Investment management fees
Brokerage accounts: I pay trade charges to use a trading platform. I pass those charges on to clients but I don't add a markup. Transaction costs range from free to $5 to as much as $40.
Costs are generally reasonable for a buy and hold approach. We do look at alternatives when a charge seems high for a particular transaction. Decisions are usually weighted toward investment goals, tax considerations, or some sudden, urgent need for funds.
If transaction costs are the only important factor to you, we probably won't be a good fit for each other.
Advisory accounts: We can serve our clients with a simple, tiered fee structure based on assets under management.
- 1.25% for the first $100,000, then
- 1.00% to $1 million, then
- 0.75% to $2 million, then
- 0.50% over $2 million.
These are annual rates, charged quarterly, based on average account values.
Important: I can combine spousal accounts so couples pay a lower, blended, household rate.
